Solarhouse.by sells eco-friendly panels made of straw - a building material that is still unfamiliar to most people, even to those who are planning a house. Straw panels are produced by compressing straw under high pressure into dense boards; the material comes from an agricultural by-product, insulates against heat and noise and is used for partitions, interior walls and the insulation of walls and roofs. Because buyers usually come to the site with doubts rather than with a ready decision, the main task of the design was to explain the material before trying to sell it.

For this reason the site is meant to lead the visitor from questions to products: what straw panels are and how they are made, where they can be used and how they compare with familiar materials such as plasterboard or chipboard, and only then the catalog. A buyer who understands the material is more likely to trust it with their walls.

The audience includes both private builders and companies that build frame houses or renovate interiors, and both groups need to see the product clearly before they get in touch. Our work covered the design, the layout and the integration into the CMS, which lets the client add new products and update information and prices themselves as the range grows.

Straw is renewable, and that is part of the argument the site makes.
