We developed yet another design for an online shop selling metal products.

This project is the design of an online shop that sells a variety of technical metal products and metalware. Its buyers are mostly businesses and professionals - construction and repair companies, workshops, manufacturers, maintenance departments - who purchase metal goods regularly and often in large quantities. For them the shop is a working tool: they know what they need, they compare specifications and prices, and they want to place an order and move on to the rest of their day.

A metal products catalog is large and technical. The same kind of item can exist in many sizes, grades and finishes, and a buyer needs to see these parameters clearly to pick the right one. The design therefore had to bring order to a big range: a clear hierarchy of categories, product cards where the technical characteristics are easy to scan, and prices and availability that do not have to be searched for. Wholesale buyers also need to understand the terms for bulk orders, so information about wholesale purchases was meant to be easy to find rather than hidden in the footer.

The search phrases the shop was designed around - metal products, metalware, metal, metal wholesale, metal products wholesale, buy metal products - show that a large part of the audience is interested in buying in volume. A clear, practical design that respects the buyer's time is the best way to win this kind of customer, because a business that finds a convenient supplier tends to stay with it for years.
